Running the Way

A field guide for moving through life with purpose.

Running the Way is built on a simple idea: life is a long course, not a quick sprint. We run it best when we fix our eyes on what matters, travel light, learn from our stumbles, and help each other keep going. That’s the heart behind this site—a home for my writing, books, and practical tools for people who want to live with integrity, courage, and compassion.

You don’t have to be religious to be here. The metaphor comes from an ancient line about “running with endurance,” but the practice is everyday: show up, set your pace, refine your form, and keep moving toward the good.

What you’ll find:

  • Essays & BooksRESIST and new projects in progress, all in one place.

  • Guides & Tools — Clear, usable frameworks for decision-making, habits, relationships, and leadership.

  • Stories from the Road — Real people, real setbacks, real growth.

  • Community & Practice — Ways to try this out in teams, small groups, or on your own.

The course ahead will throw hills, weather, and detours. We’ll travel lighter by dropping what doesn’t serve us, steadier by choosing a sustainable pace, and braver by running together. If you’re ready to take the next step—one honest mile at a time—welcome. This is your starting line.

The Series

Running the Way
A series for anyone seeking purpose, connection, and faithful action. SHIFT helps you move forward, MOURN guides grief, WHY uncovers calling, TABLE teaches connection and justice, and LEAD shows how to live and lead with integrity. Practical wisdom for life, faith, and community.

  • RESIST
Standing up can be hard. RESIST equips you to act courageously, faithfully, and strategically in the face of injustice, falsehood, and oppression—guiding individuals, families, and communities to live boldly in accordance with their values.

  • SHIFT
Life gets stuck. We get stuck. SHIFT shows how the stories we tell, the questions we ask, and the metrics we measure can help us break free, reclaim agency, and move forward in work, relationships, and faith.

  • MOURN
Grief touches everyone. MOURN explores the spiritual, emotional, and communal practices that help us sit with loss, find hope, and move toward healing without rushing the process.

  • WHY
Why am I here? What’s my purpose? WHY blends Japanese wisdom (Ikigai, Kintsugi, Kaizen) with biblical insight to help you discover calling, reclaim brokenness, and take small, faithful steps toward the life you’re meant to live.

  • TABLE
Tables are more than furniture—they are places of connection, justice, and kinship. TABLE looks at every story of food and gathering in Scripture, showing how God teaches us to live well, love deeply, and welcome everyone in.

  • LEAD
Leadership isn’t just a title—it’s a way of living. LEAD explores how faith, courage, and intentional practices shape leaders who inspire change, build community, and act with integrity in work, ministry, and daily life.
