Advent REsistance (sermon)
It’s December, so everything is loud. Deadlines. Parties. Pressure. The world keeps shouting: Hurry up. Do more. Buy more. Be more.
Advent pushes back: Slow down. Wait. Make room.
Making room is an act of resistance. Resistance to hurry. Resistance to scarcity. Resistance to “no vacancy” lives.
God shows up in a borrowed manger. God moves into the neighborhood. God brings peace that looks like room at the table—especially for people who get squeezed out.
This week, make room in one place:
In your schedule: block 30 minutes and listen—no multitasking.
At your table: invite one person who might be alone.
In your budget: set aside a small gift so you’re ready when you notice need.
Go make room. That’s how we resist.
